What is Lagos Life?
Lagos Life is a free life-simulation game that plays entirely in a web browser. It takes the Sims formula — create a character, earn money, buy a home, build a life — and drops it into Lagos, Nigeria. Instead of Willow Creek you get Yaba, Mushin and Banana Island. Instead of a generic power grid you get NEPA, and the daily in-game tip will genuinely tell you to "buy a generator or solar before NEPA ruins your evening."
What separates it from most browser games is that it is multiplayer and social. Other players are on the same city map as you, the map carries billboard advertising bought by real Nigerian brands, and the city has an elected Governor whose policy decisions are applied to everyone. That combination is why it went from launch to a million players in three days.
It also has no download. That matters more than it sounds: Lagos Life spread on mobile data, on phones, with no app store friction — you tap a link and you are in the city.
Play Lagos Life online
Use the window at the top of this page. It loads the game from its official servers, starts windowed like a normal browser game, and expands to fullscreen whenever you want. The page deliberately loads nothing from the game until you press play, so the guide below stays fast to read.
Playing is instant and needs no account — you can walk around the city as a guest straight away. Saving needs one, and accounts are best created in the game's own window, so use Sign up / Log in in the toolbar underneath.

Is Lagos Life free?
Yes — the game is free to play. The city screen itself advertises "playing right now — free". You can register, pick a home, walk the map and take part in city life without spending anything. Lagos Life does offer optional in-game naira top-ups bought with real money through its own payment provider, and it sells in-game billboard and lagoon advertising space to brands. Neither is required to play.

Does Lagos Life need a download?
No. It is a browser game — that is the whole point of its growth. There is no Play Store or App Store download required, and no installer. On a phone you can optionally add it to your home screen so it opens like an app, but the game itself is always the website. More detail on whether you need to download Lagos Life.
Lagos Life on mobile
Lagos Life is designed to run on phones and it is where most of its players are, so the mobile experience is the default experience, not an afterthought. The embed on this page switches to a taller square window under 760 px so the city map is not squashed into a letterbox, and the toolbar buttons stay at a comfortable 44 px tap target.
