Nigeria’s browser game wave
Lagos games
Lagos has quietly become one of the most interesting places in the world to set a game. Here is the whole scene — what each Lagos game is, and which one to play first.

Why Lagos games suddenly matter
For years, "Nigerian game" meant a small scene making games for consoles almost nobody in Nigeria owned. That changed with the browser. A game that loads from a link, on a phone, on mobile data, with no store approval and no download, can reach an entire country overnight — and Lagos, being the loudest, densest, most self-mythologising city in Africa, turned out to be the perfect setting.
The result is a genuine wave of Lagos games: danfo driving games, tycoon builders, open-world action, and one full life simulation that put a million players in a virtual Lagos in three days. Here is the whole list.
The Lagos games list

Where to start
If you want the deepest of the Lagos games, start with Lagos Life. It is the only one that is a persistent multiplayer world rather than a single-session game — you build a character, move into a neighbourhood, and share a city with thousands of people, including an elected Governor whose policy applies to everyone.
Two things worth knowing before you pick: how Lagos Life compares to The Sims if you are weighing up a life sim, and what is coming next — Abuja Life and Port Harcourt Life have both been reported as in development.
If you have ten minutes rather than ten hours, a danfo game is the better fit: driving a yellow bus through Lagos traffic is the most immediately legible Nigerian game idea anyone has had, and it is fun in the way arcade games are supposed to be.
What makes a Lagos game feel Lagos
The games that work are the ones that use specifics rather than vibes. Danfo buses. NEPA. Amala. Quilox. Traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge. The games that do not work are the ones that just put "Africa" in the background. Lagos is one of the few cities in the world with enough shared cultural vocabulary that a game can be built almost entirely out of references — and players get every one of them instantly.
Lagos Life takes this furthest: its map is a list of real places, and the daily headline is written in the register of a Lagos group chat.
