Every named place in the city

Lagos Life map and locations

Lagos Life turns the city into its map. Here is every location we have found, plus the neighbourhoods players live in and how in-city advertising works.

A Lagos reference sheet you can walk around

The smartest thing about the Lagos Life map is that it is not generic. It is Lagos, annotated. Afrika Shrine is there. Amala Shitta is there. So are CcHub, UNILAG, the High Court, Ikoyi Golf Club and a polling unit. If you know Lagos, the map reads like a list of places you have opinions about; if you do not, the game quietly teaches you the city.

There are 30 named locations in total. Two of them — Airport and Refinery — are labelled Coming soon, which tells you the map is still growing.

The full map as it looks in game. The Governor policy banner across the top is live city state, and the billboards are real paid advertising.

Where players live

Homes in Lagos Life sit in named neighbourhoods, and the names are doing real work — they tell you which Lagos you live in.

NeighbourhoodWhat it means in Lagos
YabaThe mainland's tech and student heartland — CcHub and UNILAG territory. Busy, central, young.
MushinDense, loud, mainline Lagos. Markets, crowds, real city texture.
Banana IslandThe wealthy island address. The aspirational end of the map.

Your home stores your items, so the contents of your house are a running record of your progress. Which neighbourhood you choose is as much a statement about the life you are playing as it is a practical decision. There is a full breakdown on the houses and neighbourhoods page.

The city dashboard

Across the top of the map sits the live state of the whole multiplayer city: the sitting Governor and their active policy, the sea plots, and the number of homes that exist. Because Lagos Life is multiplayer, that bar reflects what thousands of other players are doing at that moment. See the elections guide for what the Governor actually controls.

The billboards are real adverts

Something that confuses new players: many of the billboards and floating signs you pass in Lagos Life are not set dressing. They are paid placements bought by real Nigerian brands.

Lagos Life sells two kinds of in-city advertising:

  • Billboard slots — in-city boards with an image and a link, bought for a period of time.
  • Sea plots — large placements positioned on a grid out on Lagos Lagoon, the most visible inventory in the game.

Slots expire and free up, so the advertisers you see change over time. It is a genuinely novel medium: a Lagos-themed world, a large concurrent Nigerian audience, and ad space measured in billboards on a lagoon. If you run a business and want in, the placements are sold by the game itself. More on how the money works.

Two places to watch

Airport and Refinery are already on the map but marked Coming soon. They are the clearest signal of where Lagos Life is heading next, and travel and industry are both very Lagos things to build.

Also on the way: other cities

Lagos is the live city. Abuja Life and Port Harcourt Life have both been reported as in development. If the pattern holds, expect the same treatment for those cities — the local landmarks, the local institutions, the local jokes.
